Typically, built-in thermometers in cooking appliances measure temperatures in different spots than where you place your food, such as the back of the oven or the lid of the grill. Additionally, cookers tend to have hot and cold spots instead of maintaining a consistent temperature throughout the entire chamber.
This is why it's crucial for Sync's ambient sensor to measure the temperature directly at the thicker end of the probe. By doing so, it provides an accurate reading of the temperature your food is exposed to, aiding in the calculation of a more precise cook time.
If you're using more than one thermometer to check your meat temperature, there are a couple of important things to keep in mind:
While the meat is still cooking, there can be variations in temperature in different parts of the meat. This can happen because of differences in thickness, fat content, or proximity to bones.
Even if you're trying to measure in exactly the same spot, most other thermometers have their sensors right in the tip, whereas ours is about 2cm from the pointed end.
The core function of the Sync is to give you perfect and consistent results every time. This is why all of our probes’ internal sensors are calibrated to +/- 1°F (0.5°C) in the factory using certified tools, and then thoroughly tested, so you can rest assured you're getting an accurate reading with our probes.
During the cooking process, the internal temperature of meat varies due to differences in thickness, fat content, and the amount of bone in different parts. That's why it's crucial to place the Sync probe in the thickest, meatiest section to ensure an accurate reading and estimated cooking time.
Having multiple sensors minimizes the margin for error and simplifies obtaining a precise reading from the ideal location.
When you tap on the internal temperature dot, you can view a comprehensive probe map displaying all five sensor readings. However, the primary cooking screen consistently shows the lowest temperature out of the five. This is because the lowest reading corresponds to the thickest part of the meat.
The temperature displayed on the base is the lowest temperature among all the meat temperature sensors. The alarm indicates that a specific sensor is in a high-temperature environment. This could be due to an incorrect method of inserting the needle into the meat.
The most common cause of undercooked meat is incorrect probe placement. The internal sensor of the probe is positioned approximately one inch above the pointed tip.
It is essential that this part of the probe is inserted into the thickest section of the meat. If it is not, the area of the meat that the sensor is touching will reach the target temperature before the core of the meat has a chance to rise to the correct temperature.
As a general rule, insert the probe into the thickest section of your food, avoiding contact with bone. Refer to the Times & Temps section of the app for illustrations related to various foods, as well as video demonstrations in the Guided Cooking recipes. To prevent damage to the probe, ensure it's inserted up to the point where it widens.
The target temperature is the ideal doneness temperature we strive to achieve. Since most foods continue to cook even after removed from the heat source, the target temperature refers to the food's temperature after resting. It is generally higher compared to the remove-from-heat temperature, also known as the pull temperature, which is a term commonly used by chefs.
The 'remove-from-heat temperature' is the point at which you should take your food out of the heat for it to reach the ideal doneness. It is typically set below your target temperature to allow for 'carryover cooking'. This refers to the phenomenon where food remains cooking from residual heat even after being removed from the heat source. By taking your food off the heat somewhat sooner, you can account for this continued rise in temperature during the resting period, ensuring your food reaches its perfect level of doneness without being overcooked.
It is crucial to allow meat to rest after cooking to ensure optimal tenderness and juiciness. During this resting phase, the juices redistribute, enhancing the overall flavor and texture of each bite. Additionally, the residual heat continues to cook the meat, reaching the desired doneness level gradually. The Typhur Sync takes into account this temperature rise by instructing you to remove the food from the heat slightly before the target temperature is achieved. The integrated rest timer assists you in monitoring the resting duration. Larger cuts of meat, like roasts, naturally require a longer resting period.
Yes! It’s the perfect way to make sure that your food is cooked through. Just be sure, as with all cooking, that the probe is deeply and securely inserted into the food.
Yes! Along with meat, poultry, and fish, you can use your Sync to track the temperature of vegetables, too, as long they are large enough for the probe to be inserted and remain in place during cooking. Some of our favorites include potatoes and cauliflower.
No. The stainless-steel components of the probe could cause sparking, and the probe may be damaged.
Regrettably, no. We love candy, too, but the temperature of melted sugar (upwards of 320˚F) is higher than the sensor in the probe tip can register (212˚F) and so it would be damaged by the high heat.
No. The probe will be damaged by the pressure. However, you can use the thermometer when cooking with most other multi-cooker functions, including those on our Smart Cooker.
Basic Usage Questions
1. Press and hold both the '<' and '>' buttons on the base for more than 5 seconds and show the reset device confirmation.

The Device Base performs multiple functions. It serves as a temperature screening tool, a charging case for the probe, and a bridge for WiFi and Bluetooth connections. Notably, it incorporates an algorithm for estimating temperature.
With a full charge, the probes can last:

At 77°F (25℃), for 50 hours

Yes, fast charging is supported. The total charging time is less than 3 hours.
Yes, it only takes a 2-minute charge to provide 2 hours of usage. It takes 45 minutes for a full charge.
The probe can be easily cleaned by washing it with hot, soapy water while using the rough side of a sponge. Although scratches may appear on the metal pipe if a steel wire ball is used, this will not affect its regular use.
Yes,you can use a dishwasher to clean the probe.
Indeed, the probe boasts an impressive IP67 waterproof rating, ensuring its resilience in challenging environments.
To enter the "Reset Device" interface and restore factory settings, press and hold the "<" and " >" buttons simultaneously for over 5 seconds, then tap "Reset."
After charging the base for 10 minutes, turn it on and check the battery icon for a lightning symbol. If present, the device is charging. Note that in the current version, there is no charging prompt when the base is powered off.
If the base does not respond to charging while powered on, try using a different charging cable and adapter. If the issue persists, the base may be faulty. In this case, please contact support@typhur.com for assistance.
Before attempting to charge your probe, make certain that both your probe and the Device Base have been thoroughly cleaned, and that the probe is fully inserted into the Device Base.
The ambient temperature might vary. To ensure accurate readings, it's advisable to fully submerge both probes in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes. This will determine if the temperatures displayed by the two probes are consistent.
Make sure your probe is charged. Clean the probe's surfaces if they are dirty, as this can interfere with charging. Check the charging icon on the base to verify that the probe is charging.
Ensure that your probe is not obstructed by tin foil or metallic objects. If it is, expose the end of the probe to the tinfoil.
Keep the base and probe as close together as possible.
If you encounter unresponsiveness on your product's screen, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
Restart the device to refresh its operations.
Check for any available software updates that might enhance performance.
Restore the device to its factory settings to potentially resolve software glitches.

The ambient sensor is embedded close to the top of the ceramic handle of the probe. There are three possible explanations for large differences in ambient temperature readings:
1. Slow heat conduction through the ceramic handle: The ceramic handle has low thermal conductivity, causing a delay in the transfer of heat from the probe to the ambient sensor. As a result, the sensor may not accurately reflect the ambient temperature immediately.
2. Cold temperature conduction through the stainless steel probe: When the probe is inserted into meat at a lower temperature, the cold tip of the probe can conduct the low temperature to the ambient sensor through the stainless steel probe. This decreases the sensor's reading, leading to inaccurate measurements.
3. Temperature variations inside the oven: The temperature inside the oven is not uniform, especially in different locations. Measuring the ambient temperature near the probe allows for a more accurate comparison, as it provides a localized temperature reading.
Over time, as the cooking duration increases, the ambient sensor will gradually approach the actual external ambient temperature, eventually providing a more accurate measurement.
There are several factors that can affect the ambient temperature reading of a meat thermometer, including the location of the probe within the oven or grill, as well as the depth of the probe inserted into the meat.
To test if the ambient temperature reading is accurate, we recommend placing the probe in boiling water and checking if there is a significant difference between the displayed temperature and the actual boiling point of water (100°C or 212°F).
If there is no difference in the reading when the probe is placed in boiling water, it indicates that the probe is functioning properly.
However, if there is still a difference in the reading, please contact our customer service team at support@typhur.com for further assistance.
The ambient temperature readings of the two probes may differ by 1-2°F after they are removed from the base due to the unstable airflow and temperature fluctuations. This temperature difference is considered normal.
To determine if the probe temperatures are accurate, place both probes in boiling water simultaneously. After a few minutes, check if the temperature readings are consistent. If they match, the probes are functioning correctly.

The default sleep time for the base is set to 30 minutes. If you wish to modify this duration, you can do so through the Typhur App. To access the settings, follow these steps:

Potential causes:
The probe's safety wire isn't fully inserted into the food.
The probe is inserted into too much food, causing the needle to be exposed in a high-temperature environment.
The sensor inside the probe isn't entirely wrapped in food and is exposed to high temperatures.
